May 2013 Be Your Best Year Yet

Happy New Year to you! How awesome is it to have a clean slate and a whole new year to start afresh? Have you taken the time to sit down and write our your deepest desires for the year ahead? Go on, grab yourself a fresh sheet of paper or your journal and have a ponder over these:

  • What new things are you going to start?
  • What old things do you need to finish to make room for the new things that are coming your way
  • What are you going to maintain that perhaps you've already started?

Trust me, taking time out to think about what you really want is really a liberating experience. You may find it difficult to start, as it is an unfamiliar task. But once you start to tap into your unconscious, your brilliant ideas and desires will flow. During this activity, you may want to think about:

  •  Who it is that you want to be this year?
  •  What kind of person/friend/wife/mother/daughter/lover/employee are you going to be
  • What will be your strongest characteristics?
  •  Are you going to be calm, relaxed, motivated, loving, kind, gentle, dedicated, committed, patient, inspired, open, honest, loyal... these are a few to get you started.

Okay, so once you know the person you want to be this year, start to think about what you are going to do this year. Think about the actions you will need to take to move you on the path of being that wonderful and magnificent  person you are going to be in 2013 and beyond. Think about the small steps you can start to take that will lead you to your outcome.

When you are clear on who you want to be and what you are going to do, then start to think about what you want to have this year. When I say have, I don't mean the material possessions one can accumulate per se, but

  • What kind of relationships will you have?
  • What kind of experiences will you have?
  • What mindset will you have?
  • What friendships will you have?
  • What commitments will you have?
Once you've been through these three steps of  Be,Do, Have  you will have a much clearer picture of your year ahead. You will also have the startings of a blueprint to start writing your goals, which we will have a look at in our next post. Sometimes the simple act of getting ideas out of our heads and onto paper not only makes them more realistic, but less daunting than they can be when they're floating around in our gray matter! Take the first step today, I really encourage you to give this a go!

In the meantime, if you have any comments/thoughts/ideas/inspirations, I'd love to hear from you. If you would like a hand getting started, send me a message at shanelle@connectioncoaching.com.au
